Is there a relationship between CD interest rates and the stock market?
Feb 19, 2010 by Fan | Posted in Investing
Don't know if that's a newbie question but is there? I have a theory strategy in my head of keeping most of my invest-able assets in stocks when CD rates are low then selling stocks and buying CD's when the interest rate is above 5%. This allows me to

CD interest rates going up or down this year?
Jan 28, 2009 by Jay B | Posted in Investing
Does anyone know if CD interest rates will go up later this year, cause right now they are terribly low. I rather invest in CDs than the stock market because I am not in the business of losing money especially right now during this economic crisis, with
I wouldn't expect CD rates to go up or down... the Fed has indicated that they plan on leaving rates low for a while, and with the banks getting bailout money, there's no real reason for them to offer higher rates to attract deposits.

Where to Park Your Cash Now
18.05.12
It isn't fun being a saver these days.
The fragile economic recovery, weak housing market and tight lending standards all underscore the need for an ample emergency fund to ride out a job loss, unexpected expense or other temporary financial shock.
Yet interest rates are sitting near multidecade lows -- and the Federal Reserve has vowed to keep those rates at rock-bottom levels through 2014.
That means investors who stow emergency funds in a bank account or certificate of deposit will have trouble just keeping pace with inflation, currently around 3% a year. The average annual yield on four-year CDs, for example, sits at 0.89%, compared with 2.61% in March 2008, according to Bankrate.com. Unless the economy takes a grave turn, such savers will end up with less spending power than they started with.
