Having an Attorney by Your Side Makes Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Easier
18.05.12
March 25, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Millions of people have filed for bankruptcy protection over the years. In the Central District of California alone, there were 134,000 cases filed in 2011, and 34,000 of them were Chapter 13 cases.
What Is Chapter 13?
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is most commonly referred to as "wage earner" bankruptcy or "repayment" bankruptcy. Unlike some other forms of bankruptcy protection, filing for Chapter 13 does not result in the automatic discharge of your debts. Instead, it consolidates most debt into a single payment that the debtor will pay monthly for a period of time, usually between three and five years. At the end of the repayment period, the remaining consolidated debt will be forgiven, and the debtor will have a fresh financial start.
