i have a charged off credit card at a collection agency/law firm that are threatening to file judgement. they are location in texas. im in california. is it legal for them to file against me?
They are going to use a licensed California attorney and are going to file in a California court in the county where you reside.

i just have a situation from some type of agency accusing me of putting fraudulent info on a credit card app in 1992 and is demanding a settlement pymt or i will be taken to court whebn i asked for proof ,some type of document he said cant do it unless
This is a SCAM! Record the conversation, tell him it's recorded and file a complaint to the FTC at www.ftc.gov. The law that governs debt collections is the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act). You can look up the details on the same ftc website.

The agencies name is Unique National Collections . I dont think they are licensed to collect in Michigan. Where can I find the laws that they are breaking? I looked all over please help !

John C. White filed suit against Portfolio Recovery Associates on March 6 in the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont.
