    OCEANSIDE: Voters to decide fate of mobile-home rent control ordinance

    An Oceanside ordinance that would phase out rent control in mobile-home parks will go to the voters on the June 2012 ballot.

    City Council members voted 3-2 to put the ordinance up for a public vote rather than repeal it.

    Those were the two options the council had under a referendum drive by mobile-home park residents.

    A public vote "will give final clarity" to the issue, said Councilman Jerry Kern, who led the push for decontrol.

    Councilmen Jack Feller and Gary Felien voted with Kern to put the matter on the ballot.
