    With a Va home loan, can I look at "any" real estate on the market for sale (homes) ?

    I was told I could buy any home that I choose once approved with the VA Mortgage Co. I am working with. I have also been led to believe that this is not true, that there are VA listings and then "others." What's the real deal?

    Almost 100% of the homes for sale will be willing and able to sell to you with a VA loan. It does require a little extra cost of the seller- so they can turn it down, but they probably don't. And the condition has to meet certain minimum requirements.

    my wife & i are looking to buy a home and its been quite difficult going VA in this market. I'm wondering if because we're "no money down" and contingent upon VA approval, that sellers are going with FHA loans etc where they will make more

    There is no law that says you can not make an offer on anything.

    However, get yourselves approved and pre-qualified. That way you know what you can afford first of all.

    Then - if you find something you like - BUY it - don't

    What happens to a VA home loan if the home is Short Sold?

    We are wanting to relocate, but we will never get the amount we owe on our home if we sell it. Does anyone know what happens if we get the approval to short sale the home? Does it ruin any future chances for us to get a VA loan?

    Fairfax Housing Market Trending Up, Homes Selling Quickly

    The Northern Virginia real estate market continued to experience many positive trends in January compared to the same month last year, according to The Long & Foster Market Minute reports. In the Northern Virginia counties surrounding Washington, D.C., including the city of Alexandria and Arlington , Fairfax , Loudoun and Prince William counties, median sale price has increased throughout the region, inventories have decreased, and homes are selling in less than two months, on average.

    “We have seen a steady increase of consumers testing the waters of the housing market thanks to increases in median sale price, quickly-selling homes and historically-low interest rates. These dynamics continue to drive positive momentum in the residential real estate market throughout Northern Virginia,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and chief operating officer of The Long & Foster Companies.
